Psychotherapy

Deciding to seek therapy is a big step, and it’s natural to feel unsure or overwhelmed. You might know exactly what’s troubling you—or you may feel a vague sense that “something isn’t right.” Either way, therapy can help you find relief and clarity whether your goals are defined or emerging.

My approach

I draw from psychodynamic and interpersonal therapy, which means we’ll dive into both unconscious patterns and relational dynamics (including how they show up between us in session). My treatment is trauma-informed, and integrative of other approaches such as from Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapy.

What we will work on

Relief from Emotional Pain — I believe the heart of therapy is easing suffering. Through a supportive, empathic relationship, we’ll explore what's keeping you stuck—whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, or a difficult life transition—and find a path toward emotional ease.

Insight & Personal Growth — Many clients come hoping to understand themselves better—their patterns, relationships, identity, and emotional history. By discovering the “why” behind your struggles, you gain the freedom to change.

Relationships & Identity — Your relationships—past and present—often hold hidden clues to your suffering. We’ll look at key connections (family, romantic, cultural, work) and their impact on your sense of self and belonging.

Scope of Practice

I primarily work with adolescents and adults in an individual psychotherapy setting.  However, with certain presenting concerns, I will also work with couples and families.

In terms of psychological testing, I am available to address specific and targeted concerns, or broader issues requiring more comprehensive assessments.  These include personality, clinical diagnosis, academic achievement, vocational, and intelligence testing.

I specialize in supporting:

  • Professionals in tech, education, and high-pressure environments

  • Individuals with international, multicultural, and third culture backgrounds

  • People navigating relationship issues, identity exploration, anxiety, and depression

  • A broad range across the LGBTQ+ community, including non-binary, transgender, and queer identities

Cultural and Language Competency

In addition to English, I am proficient in Mandarin and can understand 3 other Chinese dialects (Hakka, Hokkien/Taiwanese, and Cantonese). Having lived internationally (Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, and U.S.) for significant periods of my life, I am particular sensitive to cultural and identity issues.
